Winter weather advisory for Omaha Metro

UPDATE 5:40 p.m.:  Heavy rain and small hail falling in Southwest Omaha, thunder heard in Dundee.

KMTV Reporter Miranda Christian reports snow covered roads between Wisner and Pilger.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect from  6:00 am Friday morning to midnight.

A storm system will bring rain Thursday afternoon and possibly thunderstorms Thursday night.

Some storms could be strong with gusty winds and hail.

Rain will transition into snow early Friday morning before the commute.

Snow will accumulate, total 2-5 inches in the metro.

Higher amounts are expected up north.

Lower amounts to the south.

Nebraska State Patrol is asking citizens to be prepared for the upcoming storm and road conditions.
