Omaha, NE - Last night on twitter Josh Jones announced his intentions to retire from basketball due to a heart condition.  Today, he spoke with the media about that tough decision.

Jones said, "I'm not going to say quit.  Because, I've never been a quitter in my life.  I'm not quitting.  I feel like my life's condition is forcing making a decision that's best for me to live."

Earlier this month an atrial flutter caused Jones to faint before the Jays game with Nebraska.  The senior guard then underwent a battery of tests and a surgical procedure that was a partial success.  Jones will still need some more tests and likely another operation before he's fully recovered.  It's a scary proposition, but Jones is handling it with his usual high energy.

Jones believes, "a lot of people don't understand how much it hurts or how hard it is, because they see me smile all the time.  And that's okay.  I'm okay with that, because I don't want people to be scared.  A lot of people believe in me to the point that they're nervous because they see I'm nervous.  Then, I'm not being the man I was raised to be and want to be."
