OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team moved up four spots in
both top-25 polls released on Monday. Creighton is 14th in the USA
Today/ESPN coaches poll and 15th in the Associated Press poll. Both marks
are season-bests and the program's highest since being tabbed 12th in both
polls on Feb. 10, 2003.

This is the seventh time in eight weeks the Jays have been ranked by the
writers, and 10th straight week that Creighton has been ranked by the
coaches.

In the NCAA's official RPI rankings, Creighton jumped three spots to an
MVC-best 18th. Creighton already owns wins against four other top-42 teams,
including  Wichita State (24), San Diego State (27), Northwestern (38) and
Northern Iowa (42).

Statistically, Creighton owns the top spot in two offensive categories. The
Bluejays continue to lead the nation in field goal percentage (.514) as well
as three-point field goal percentage (.451).In NCAA history, the only team
to ever finish the year atop both categories was Northern Arizona in
1998-99. In addition, the Bluejays are also second in assists per game
(19.2), fifth in assist/turnover ratio (1.51), seventh in winning percentage
(.900) and ninth in scoring offense (81.5).

Individually, Doug McDermott ranks third in the country in scoring average
at 23.2 points per game. He is also ninth in the nation with his 60.8
percent accuracy from the field, 113th in free-throw percentage (.814) and
62nd in rebounds per game (8.5). Grant Gibbs is 31st in assists per game
(5.7) and 34th in assist/turnover ratio (2.40). Antoine Young is 35th in
assist/turnover ratio (2.38) and 102nd in assists per game (4.4).

Creighton (18-2, 8-1 MVC) returns to action on Wednesday night when it
visits Drake (12-8, 5-4 MVC, 97 RPI). Tip-off at Drake Knapp Center is set
for 7:05 pm.
