“You know being able to race against Michael is definitely an honor,” said Ryan Lochte.

The 31-year-olds may just have the greatest rivalry in the sport of swimming.

“I think it’s going to be close, but I think Phelps is going to come through and win,” said swim fan Christopher Kopac.

On Friday night Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte will line-up in adjacent lanes and race for what is probably the final time on American soil.  They are both competing in the 200 individual medley at the US Olympic Swim Trials in Omaha.

“It’s such a neat experience.  We wanted to come see Michael Phelps swim for probably the last time,” said swim fan Emily Reed.

Phelps is adamant that he will be competing in his fifth and final Olympic games.  Lochte on the other hand hasn’t said one way or another.

Fans were pumped for Friday’s match-up; many had a favorite to win.

“Well obviously I’m going to pick Phelps; I hope that is who will win.  But, I respect them both completely,” said swim fan Kristen Foss.

“I think Phelps may get it, but I’m rooting for Ryan so we will see,” said one swim fan.

Both men are swimming in two finals tonight.  The finals begin at 7 p.m. Friday.
