Papillion-La Vista girls basketball was looking to get to the state championship tournament for the first time in seven years with a win over Fremont in the district final, and the Monarchs did just that, beating the Tigers, 54-30.
Papio's Josey Ryan paced the Monarchs with 17 points and her teammate Lindsey Ingwerson notched 16 points in the win.
The girls state basketball championships start Thursday, March 1.
