Omaha women's basketball falls to No.1 seed Western Illinois in Summit League semifinals

The Omaha women's basketball team fell to No. 1 seed Western Illinois 82-82 in the Summit League semifinals Monday, March 6th. 

Omaha's Mikaela Shaw tallied 29 points while Michaela Dapprich finished with 24 points in Monday's loss to Western Illinois. 

Western Illinois's Morgan Blumer led the Leathernecks with 22 points followed by Emily Clemens who tallied 21 points. 

A 64-58 win over No. 4 seed South Dakota advanced the Mavericks to its second straight Summit League semifinals. Shaw recorded her 10th 20-point game of the years with a game-high 25 points against South Dakota. Shaw also became the first Omaha women's basketball player to reach 1,780 points, 890 rebounds and 310 assists for a career. Her 549 points this year is the eighth-highest single-season scoring total in school history. Shaw led the Mavericks in points, rebounds and assists, she ranked in the top four in the Summit League in each category.

Omaha's Marissa Preston led the Summit League in three-point field goal percentage at 47.3 percent. 

The Mavericks ended their season with a 16-15 overall record.
