LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) The Nebraska volleyball team will have a tough task replacing one of the greatest setters in Huskers history. With Kelly Hunter now gone, the Big Red could look to true freshman Nicklin Hames.

The Tennessee native won five state titles in high school starting varsity as an 8th grader.

"It's been my dream to set here and be a starter," said Hames. "So I'm going to be pushing very hard. But I think it's just going to be the person who has the best leadership."

Hames will compete for the job along with Brooke Smith, who returned to Lincoln after spending last season at Kansas State. Hames is already earning the respect of her teammates.

"She's one of the hardest workers on our team," said senior Mikaela Foecke. "She's definitely one of the hardest workers on in the freshman and she's definitely a quick learner. That was one of the biggest things for her this summer is learning the Nebraska tempo and our offense especially if she wants to be a starter this fall."
