Mike Riley took time during his Monday press conference to update the status of injured players including senior quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr.

Riley said Armstrong is going through concussion protocol and that his status as of right now is "day-to-day". In the meantime, Ryker Fyfe is set to be Nebraska's starting quarterback. Riley said he would get holder Zack Darlington ready to be Fyfe's backup.

Darlington came to Nebraska originally as a quarterback. Riley said he is very hesitant to burn true freshman Patrick O'Brien's redshirt this late in the season.

Riley said offensive linemen Tanner Farmer and David Knevel are getting closer to being ready and that he is hopeful they will play this weekend.

Riley is also hopeful that linebackers Marcus Newby (hamstring), Michael Rose-Ivey (elbow) and Chris Weber (knee strain) will play this weekend.

On a more optimistic note, Riley said offensive lineman Jerald Foster is getting close to participating in some action. Foster went down with a sprained MCL before the season started. Riley said he doesn't think Foster would play this weekend, but wants to get him back on the field before the season is over.
