In the span of about an hour on Sunday, the Huskers lost a four star commit then picked one up. After losing receiver Joshua Moore, Nebraska gained the verbal commit of safety C.J. Smith.

Smith visited NU this weekend & was impressed enough to pick the Big Red. He becomes the first known commit of the Scott Frost era at Nebraska.

The 6'3" 190 pound Smith is from West Palm Beach, Florida & picked Nebraska over Oklahoma, Florida & Michigan among many other offers.

New Nebraska running backs coach Ryan Held was happy to celebrate the news late Sunday afternoon on Twitter.

Defensive coordinator Erik Chinander was also excited about NU's first commit of the new coaching regime.

The Huskers are now at nine verbal commits for the 2018 class after JUCO receiver Jaron Woodyard became Frost's 2nd commit of the weekend. The early signing day is Wednesday December 20.
