It’s a homecoming two years in the making.

“When Doug McDermott first got drafted by the Bulls our executives flew to Chicago and said we want to have an exhibition game,” said Kristi Anderson, Director of Communications at MECA.

Pinnacle Bank Arena beat CenturyLink to the punch and hosted the Bulls last pre-season.  But Thursday’s match-up was worth the wait.

“The Bulls said we can make this happen and they said how about we play Atlanta with Kyle Korver,” said Anderson.

Atlanta Hawk Kyle Korver and Chicago Bull Doug McDermott may have played a decade apart, but the former Creighton standouts bonded over the love of the game.

“They remain great friends and hopefully they’ll guard each other and let each other get a few shots off,” said Greg McDermott.

Doug’s dad and Creighton Coach Greg McDermott knew fans would pack the house.   Thursday’s pre-season game was sold out.
