V-A Hospital Shuts Down Operating Rooms
Faulty Equipment Discovered in ORs
Omaha, NE - Omaha's VA Medical Center announced Saturday it has closed the hospital's operating rooms and transferred all scheduled surgeries to other facilities. The hospital will also not accept surgery patients from other VA hospitals.
A hospital spokesman says humidifiers in the operating rooms are not maintaining environmental standards for operating rooms. Repairs are scheduled to begin immediately. The hospital says the decision to close the operating rooms was made as a precaution and will ensure patient safety.
The VA says there will be no additional costs to veterans.
