OPS School Board Candidates to Appear at Forums
Primary Election is April 2
Omaha, NE - Candidates for all nine new Omaha Public Schools Board of Education seats have been invited to appear at candidate forums before the April primary election.
The forums, sponsored by the Omaha Chamber of Commerce and the Omaha World-Herald begin Thursday.
Last month, the Nebraska Legislature voted to downsize the school board from 12 to nine members. Omaha Senator Scott Lautenbaugh sponsored the bill; critical of numerous board actions over the last year.
The boundaries of the 12 subdistricts have been changed to reflect the smaller board. Several current members chose not to run for re-election.
