Omaha, NE - Frank's Kraut teamed up with The Crescent Moon Ale House and the City of Omaha to proclaim it reuben sandwich day. They also recognized Omaha as the home of the sandwich that features corned beef, Thousand Island dressing, swiss cheese and rye bread.
Kate Smith with Frank's Kraut told us about the history of the reuben, "the story from the 1920s is that at the Blackstone Hotel they made the very first reuben sandwich. There is a little bit of controversy. We, Frank's Kraut, are declaring Omaha the official creator of the reuben sandwich."
In case you're wondering about the controversy, other accounts say the sandwich was created in New York.
