Omaha Teen Cited Doing 139mph in 55mph Zone

Omaha, Ne - Nebraska State Patrol stopped the operator of a motorcycle that was clocked doing 139mph in a 55 mph zone. 

Authorities say it was last Friday, March 8th, at approximately 4:00pm when the Nebraska State Patrol Helicopter clocked the Suzuki made motorcycle traveling at 139mph on Highway 6, near the Douglas / Sarpy County line.

Troopers were able to catch up to the motorcycle at 156th and Q where the 18 year old Omaha teen was stopped and cited for willful reckless driving, speeding, no proof of insurance and operating an unregistered vehicle, with no motorcycle endorsement. 

Nebraska State Patrol are expressing great concern over the incident.  "As we move into spring and summer, we typically see an increase in motorcycles on our roads." said David Sankey, Superintendent of Nebraska State Patrol.

Nebraska State Patrol reminds operators of motorcycles they must have a proper endorsement and for riders and passengers to wear DOT certified helmet.
