Lincoln, NE - The winter storm is affecting travel on Interstate 80 west of Omaha. Interstate 80 westbound from Lincoln to York is closed;  the eastbound lanes from Grand Island to Lincoln are also closed due to blowing snow.

Red Cross volunteers have opened a winter storm shelter in Seward. The Red Cross shelter will offer food, minor first aid and a place to sleep.

The shelter is located at 105 S. 6th Street.  For other information call 1-800-733-2767. 

In Iowa, I-80 is closed in both directions near Shelby, on the northern edge of Pottawattamie county.

 I-29 north near Little Sioux is also closed.
