Knutson Acquitted of Sex Assault; Guilty on 2 Counts
The jury decides the fate of former Nathan Hale Middle School teacher Shad Knutson. Late Friday afternoon, the 9 woman and 3 men came back with verdicts on the five felonies that Knutson faced. They found him not guilty on two counts of 3rd Degree Sex Assault of a Child, and not guilty on one count of Intentionally Committing Child Abuse. He was found guilty on one count of Child Enticement Using an Electronic Device, and one count of Intentionally Committing Child Abuse.
It was an emotional courtroom on both sides as the verdict was read. The jury deliberated for more than 8 hours Thursday and Friday.
Knutson was accused of sexually assaulting at least two teenage girls who he taught at Nathan Hale Middle School a few years ago. He also allegedly would ask the girls to take unclothed pictures of themselves, sometimes to get better grades.
KMTV Action 3 News will have reaction from the Douglas County Courthouse Friday at 10pm.
