Omaha, NE - The Nebraska Furniture Mart has lost a member of the family.

Mrs. B's only son, Louie Blumkin died Tuesday night.  He was 93-years-old.

Blumkin ran the family business since 1945, practicing his mother's philosophy, "sell cheap and tell the truth".

Blumkin is remembered as a man who greeted customers by their first names and made deals with a handshake.

He is a member of the Tech High School Hall of Fame, Class of 1938.  He holds an honorary Doctorate Degree from Creighton University and is a member of the Furniture Hall of Fame.

The Blumkin family sold the Nebraska Furniture Mart to Warren Buffett in 1983.  The Mart hosts an annual bar-be-que for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders at the annual meeting every spring.

The family has designated two organizations for memorials; The Rose Theater and the University of Nebraska Foundation Neuroscience Alliance.
