Winter Storm Pounds Council Bluffs
Residents Heed Warnings, Stay Indoors
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- Very few cars hit the road Thursday night as a powerful winter storm moved across the area.
Many people heeded the warnings and decided to stay inside.
Council Bluffs police said overall, the storm hasn't caused any major problems for residents.
The snow made for a fun time for kids, who didn't have school Thursday or Friday.
Many people went outdoors late into the evening with shovels and snow blowers to remove the snow.

"I decided to get out here and help the neighbors a little bit. They got snow blowers, but with snow this deep, you got to stay on top of it," Nick Kerkman said.
"I wanted to shovel the street so other people can get out where they're going tomorrow. I just want to get a head start," Nykee Brown said.
Council Bluffs police said it was an unusually quiet night given the conditions.
