Sports Take A Snow Day
Some schools are rearranging their schedules ahead of the storm.
Bellevue, NE - As the first game of the girls district A-1 championship gets underway, Bellevue East girls know they have to play a hard game now and again tomorrow. They will play their championship game a day a head of the storm and a day a head of schedule.
No game is worth risking the safety of those attending. That's why, when Bellevue school officials learned of a potential blizzard in our area, they decided to move the Championship basketball game up one day. Bellevue West activities director Kevin Broderick says the girls have to play back to back days because there is no other time available. District's must be played by Friday night and Broderick doesn't think the snow will be cleared by then. "The last thing we want to do is put kids on the roads with coaches and community members that are going to these games in unsafe conditions," says Broderick.
In Lincoln, officials are preparing for snow also. The University of Nebraska at Lincoln and the Big Ten have moved the Iowa-Nebraska game set for Thursday to the 23rd. The change is for the safety of everyone on game day. For those who bought tickets to Thursdays game, they can be used on Saturday. The game starts at 1pm at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln.
