UPDATE: Man Arrested For Shooting Woman, Child
Just before 6 a..m, a woman and her child were shot outside apartment complex
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- On Tuesday, police made an arrest in a case where somebody shot a mother who was loading her children into the car.
The Council Bluffs Police Department said they've arrested Ronald Farr Jr. in Harlan, Iowa.
He will be charged with three counts of attempted murder.
Police said Heather Wilson, 22, left her apartment Tuesday morning with her two children.
She was getting into the car when Farr allegedly pulled up and opened fire.
"There were definitely more than six (shots)," said Emmalee Adams, a neighbor. "They were so loud. They were right outside my bedroom window."
After the shots rang out, neighbors said they heard Wilson and two men arguing.
"I got up and poked my head out the door," said Kelly Longfox, a neighbor. "I didn't want to go outside if somebody is firing a gun. I heard a couple people out here, and I waited for the police to show up. They showed up in a matter of minutes."
Wilson was hit multiple times. Wilson's 19-month-old was shot in the arm. Her other child was not injured.
"That is just horrifying," said Longfox. "For a mother to have to experience that, it's just horrifying."
Wilson and her child were taken to the hospital. Both are expected to make a full recovery.
Police said the motive is unknown. They also said Farr and Wilson knew each other, but they were only acquaintances.
