Dead Body Found Near Carter Lake
Police are investigating whether the body is that of a homeless man
Omaha, NE - A body found near Carter Lake leaves homicide investigators determining what happened. The body was found at 2pm on February 8th. Police have not said whether it is a crime scene, or if the body is that of a homeless person.
It is an area with a lot of transients, an industrial spot right on the border between the city of Omaha and the city of Carter Lake near 14th and Locust. It's unclear who found the body but there is a scrap metal yard near the scene. It's unlikely a passer by found the body because it's in a private lot.
Officer James Shade says police initially received a call about a person down, not dead. "Omaha fire department was called to the scene and they declared him deceased at the scene." The next step is to perform an autopsy.
