Woman Who Poisoned Ex's Milk Sentenced
Omaha, NE -- The case of a woman who tried to poison her ex-husband is now over, but not without another twist. A judge sentenced 46-year-old Linda Orr to probation on Thursday.
Orr pleaded guilty to 2nd Degree Domestic Assault, which is still a felony. But it was the request of her ex-husband that may have played a big factor in her avoiding jail.
Police say in July, Orr was living with his ex-wife Linda, when she tried to poison his milk the night after an argument. Orr found out when he ate a bowl of cereal that made him dizzy. Prosecutors say he has an elaborate surveillance system that caught Linda putting something in the milk. Tom said he was initially very mad, but now they’re trying to reconcile.
"I'm past the angry point now and I guess I'm at the forgiving point," Tom Orr described.
Judge Kimberly Pankonin said she decided on 2 years probation because of Linda Orr's short criminal history, and the fact Tom wrote the judge a lot of letters expressing his desire for her to get probation instead of jail time.
"I still love her, and I've got to be cautious, but I still love her. She tells me she still loves me," Tom explained.
Linda's attorney says she is deeply remorseful, and domestic disputes take many forms, and this was an odd one.
It’s unclear what substance Orr put in the milk. Orr will do 100 hours of community service and attend a Women's Trauma Group.
