Google Expanding Wi-Fi in Council Bluffs
City Hall, River's Edge Park Will Soon Be Covered
(Council Bluffs, IA) - Google will expand its free Wi-Fi network in Council Bluffs, thanks to a new $50,000 grant. The expansion means City Hall and the new River's Edge Park will now be covered by the wireless network. The Wi-Fi network currently covers Downtown Council Bluffs, the Mid-America Center, and Council Bluffs Recreational Center.
The Wi-Fi network allows users to surf the net free of charge when they connect a smartphone, tablet, or Internet-enabled computer to the wireless network. Users must first sign off on the network's terms of service before they can surf the Internet freely.
The new grant will finance new equipment for the expansion, and pay for three years of Internet service. After three years, the city will own and operate the equipment.
