Two Kidnapped in Late Night Robbery
Suspects Force Victims to Use ATM
(Omaha, NE) - Two victims are now breathing a little easier after police officers captured three people suspected of kidnapping and robbing them at gunpoint.
Police say a young man and woman were leaving Blue Moon Fitness near 108th and Maple Tuesday night when two men and a 16-year-old male forced them into two separate cars at gunpoint. They drove to a nearby ATM where the two victims were forced to withdraw money. The suspects took the cash and left.
On the way to the ATM, the young woman sent text messages to her mom, asking to call police. The mom called the cops, who soon responded.
Police caught the suspected robbers early Wednesday morning on a traffic stop.
Deanthony Smith, Jerrod Norals, and the 16-year-old suspect now face robbery, kidnapping, and terroristic threat charges. Additionally, Smith faces charges for possession of a controlled substance and three separate gun charges.
