Omaha, NE- If it had gone off, it would have caused serious damage.  Friday, OPD showed off the pipe bomb they detonated Thursday in Memorial park.

Someone walking their dog in the park found the bomb in a creek bed.  Police think it was put there on purpose, out of sight and camouflaged.  It was wrapped in duct tape and matched the log it rested on.

Inside the bomb, police found explosive powder and wires.  Those wires tell police this bomb needed a power source to blow up.  Sergeant Matt Manhart works the bomb team for Omaha police, he's not sure why the bomb was left in the creek or why it didn't explode,  "I think the individual had every intention to try and detonate the device and for what ever reason, it didn't happen."

Sergeant Manhart is relieved no one was hurt and says many times people find false how-to information on the Internet and put their lives in danger.  Making a bomb is a felony and police say if you know anything, give them a call.
