Dogs Rescued from Filthy Farm
Owner bred dogs for hunting purposes
Omaha, NE - Scared and timid, several dogs jump out of a van. The pooches were recently rescued from a farm in Pender.
Graphic pictures show the filthy conditions seven males and six female dogs lived in. "It was very ramshackled property, small dead animals lying everywhere which we think was all that was being fed to the dogs, and just cage after cage," Lori Hook said.
Visibly thin, the dogs suffered from dehydration and starvation. "The dogs were all living outdoors freezing, they had piles and piles of feces, they were not being fed."
Volunteers say an anonymous tip led them to the farm. After the rescue, the next step is a warm bath, grooming, and veterinary care.
Lori Hook with Hearts United says the owner bred the dogs for hunting. He voluntarily surrendered them, thus he won't face any charges. "It's disappointing that he wasn't charged, it was probably for the best in this case cause it allowed the dogs to be rescued and have good thorough medical care."
All 13 dogs need a loving home. If you're interested in adoption contact Hearts United at www.hua.org
