The operator of one of the spas, busted in an Omaha prostitution ring last year, faced a judge Wednesday in Federal Court.

The judge sentenced Kimberly Bivens to 37 months in prison, 3 years of supervised probation, and 500 hours of drug and alcohol rehabilitation.  Bivens will get 4 months credit for time served. In exchange for her sentence, she will testify against the others charged in this case.

Prosecutors say Bivens, William Knox, and other ran what were advertised as legitimate spas, but were actually fronts for prostitution.  The spas were located at 93rd & Maple Rd., 84th & Lake St., and 87th & Frederick St.  Authorities say the spas had a client list of more than 1,000 that had frequented the establishments over a 15 year period.

Wednesday in court, Bivens said, “I understand the severity and take responsibility.  I won’t get involved in something like this again.”

William Knox, Tammy Schuck, Christopher Tierney, and Tabatha Ashburn are also charged in the prostitution ring.
