Lincoln, NE- The 2013 legislative session is underway in Lincoln and Wednesday, a lot of talk about the future of education, medicaid and mental health.  The return of one very familiar face was among the 26 senators sworn into office.

Ten are new senate members and one is returning after a four year break.  Ernie Chambers is back at the state capitol. He's Nebraska's longest-serving state senator at 38-years.  Term limits forced him out four years ago.  He wouldn't talk to us Wednesday, but many colleagues told us they expect him to bring spirited debate.

Newly elected speaker Greg Adams says Chambers brings experience and background, that many senators don't have.  "We may not agree on what is and isn't good policy but i believe that's what he's about.  He's about fairness, debate, good policy and in the end I'm convinced that we'll all be able to work with him."
