Slippery Roads Stick Around
Some neighborhoods look like an ice rink
Omaha, NE-- After last week's blizzard, main roads are ice free. It's a different story for residential streets. Many residential roads are still slick and while the city claims to have trucks out salting the ice, some neighborhoods look like an ice rink.Drivers are taking precaution to get around as ice cakes over the streets.
While more snow is expected, street maintenance engineer Scott McIntyre says they're working to clean up areas all over Omaha before the next snow fall but there's only so much they can do. After last week's blizzard they didn't have enough resources to clear it fast enough.
"The conditions in the residential areas are a product of the type of storm we had and the way the temperatures fell throughout the storm." According to McIntyre, because the snow fall began during rush hour, his crews couldn't get around as fast.
