OPPD: Thousands Waiting for Power

Omaha, NE - OPPD suspended power repairs overnight due to strong winds.  At 7:30 a.m. Thursday, more than 40,000 customers don't have power. The largest outages are in Douglas County. OPPD now expects repairs to take several days.

Other counties reporting outages are Douglas, Sarpy, Dodge, Washington and Saunders.  The blizzard warning for eastern Nebraska has been cancelled and replaced with a winter weather advisory. Strong winds will continue.

MidAmerican Energy in Iowa reports more than 31,000 customers without power; six-thousand in Council Bluffs.

The Nebraska Public Power District also reports small power outages.
