BREAKING: Bar Employee Charged in Fatal Crash
Prosecutors are going after the young woman who reportedly served alcohol to an 18-year-old who later died.
DOUGLAS COUNTY - County Attorney Don Kleine filed a criminal complaint Tuesday against Amanda Heiman, relating to a crash that killed an 18-year-old male.
Jacob Dickmeyer died early Monday morning, December 3, when he crashed his car near 204th and W. Dodge. His passenger, 19-year-old Colby Burke, survived.
Police say the two had been drinking Sunday night, December 2, at Fire Barn Bar and Grill in Waterloo. The investigation by Omaha Police and the Nebraska State Patrol revealed Dickmeyer and Burke were served alcohol by Heiman. The investigation also revealed Heiman knew Dickmeyer, and that he was underage, and continued to serve him.
Heiman is charged with Providing Alcohol to a Minor Resulting in Serious Injury or Death. Last year, the Nebraska legislature enhanced the law to make it a Class 3 A Felony. It is punishable by up to five years in jail with a mandatory 30 days in jail as part of any sentence.
