Omaha, NE - Before the sun came up Saturday morning, hundreds of people lined up in thick fog at the Open Door Mission.  They came with lists for Santa.

The Open Door Mission accepted registrations for Project Santa Saturday, a program to make sure children find presents under the tree on Christmas morning.  This year, the mission expects to have 6,000 names on it's list; children up to age 18, whose parents can't afford extras this time of year.

Open Door Mission President and CEO Candace Gregory says many parents have jobs, they just need help, "It just shows the desperation and the survival mode of so many of these men and women struggling to make ends meet, but at the same time they want to be a parent and want to provide Christmas for their family.

Volunteers are already collecting toys.  The mission hopes it can also provide turkeys and holiday food baskets.  For information on volunteering and collecting toys, go to www.opendoormission.org.
