Get into the Holiday Spirit; Volunteer to be a Bell Ringer
Omaha, NE- The Salvation Army has a shortage of volunteers to help ring bells this holiday season. After a record for 9,300 bell ringing hours in 2011, the Army is presently 20% behind in hours.
Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for 2-4 hour shifts at RingOmaha.org or call 402-898-6000. A variety of locations and shift times are available including some new indoor locations.
The money collected during the six week campaign supports Salvation Army programs and services throughout the year, including the food pantry, housing, utility assistance, homeless and behavioral health services, and education and recreation opportunities for youth and seniors.
The Salvation Army bell ringers are a cherished symbol of Christmas.
They represent the giving holiday spirit so strongly displayed in Omaha and its surrounding communities.
To help ensure the success of this year's holiday campaign, The Salvation Army is currently looking for hundreds of willing volunteers to ring the bells, now through December 24.
The Salvation Army Christmas programs are supported by donations to the Tree of Lights Campaign.
