Romney Wins Register Endorsement
Des Moines, IA (AP) - The Des Moines Register endorsed Mitt Romney Saturday night, saying his success in the public and private sectors makes him the stronger candidate to help the nation's economic recovery. The Register said Romney would help consumers feel "more confident" about spending money, which would bring about "renewed investment by American companies".
The newspaper posted the endorsement on-line. The last time the Register endorsed a Republican candidate was in 1972, when it supported Richard Nixon.
The newspaper said President Obama's efforts to rebuild the economy "have fallen short". It also criticized the President for contributing to Washington's partisan divide."
