Omaha, NE - Republican Congressman Lee Terry launched a new political ad targeting his opponent in the November election, Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing.  Terry also held a press conference where he spelled out his claims.

Terry claims Ewing spent more than his budget in the last 5 years, by $688,000, adding " every year he has been in office he has exceeded what the County Board approved, in Washington that's called deficit spending.  Terry's new ad states " more red ink, just what we don't need in Washington. "

Ewing made a brief statement late Monday afternoon, firing back " the information Mr. Terry released in his press conference today was either intentionally designed to mislead the public or he just doesn't understand budgets."  Ewing contends the numbers that Terry is using were proposals not the final figures of taxpayer dollars spent by his office.

Ewing told KMTV Action 3 News he has cut the number of workers in his office from 115 to 94, saving taxpayers at least $1 Million.

Terry is seeking his eighth term in District 2.
