Judge To Ex-Chief Stacey: Gun Law Is Not Unconstitutional
Omaha, NE - Bellevue's former police chief is headed to court on a gun charge after all.
Douglas County Court Judge Susan Bazis ruled the law John Stacey challenged is not unconstitutional. So he's headed back to court on the misdemeanor charge October 19th.
The county attorney charged Stacey after he gave a handgun to former Gretna City Administrator Colleen Lawry. She did not have a certificate for the gun.
Stacey retired earlier this year after a city investigation into a comment he made to a young girl at a fire station.
Lawry was fired after she was arrested for stealing money from a Gretna Senior Citizens Center. She pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor theft charges.
