Sarpy County - A man is sentenced for brutally attacking his ex-girlfriend and her step-mother in La Vista.  The victims recount the horror in an exclusive interview with KMTV.

Monday, Brandon Hendon was sentenced to 60-90 years in prison.  He's eligible for parole after 30 years, and will be eligible for release from the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services in 45 years.

In March, Hendon climbed the balcony to his ex-girlfriend, Jaimee Kirsch’s 3rd story La Vista apartment.  Police say she woke up and Hendon started stabbing her.  Her step-mother, Jessica Walker, was also cut multiple times but was able to get Hendon out of the apartment.  He was arrested in Plattsmouth a short time later.

"If I would have hesitated just a split second she may not even be here, and that fear is what I live with everyday,” Walker explained. "It will be fine because I’m standing here and so is she."

Kirsch says she feels lucky wasn't killed, and fears for her life every day.  Hendon couldn't take the fact that they were broken up.  Prosecutors say the violent attack came millimeters from being a case of murder.

"I'm really really upset with him.  I wish I could do what he did to me, to put him in my shoes and see how it felt, but ultimately he's got to sit and think for the rest of his life, what he did,” Kirsch described.

In court Hendon apologized to the victims, saying he's sorry for the damage he caused because of his drug and alcohol addiction.  His attorney says he was getting mental treatment.  They plan to appeal the ruling.
