Dog Mutilated, Crawls Back Home
Gering, NE - (AP) - The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Office is investigating the mutilation of a 3-year-old dog.
Christopher Henderson says his German shepherd, Ike, had been partially skinned from its belly to its genitals. Henderson said Monday that he followed a veterinarian's counsel and had the dog euthanized on Saturday.
Henderson says vets told him that Ike's injuries were inflicted by a person, not by another animal or a wire fence.
Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman says officers are investigating the incident, which unfolded Friday night when Ike crawled back to the home of Henderson's mother northeast of Gering, where the dog stayed.
No arrests have been reported.
