Police: Beware Door-To-Door Peddlers Wanting Cash, Checks, Keys To Your Car
Omaha, NE - They knock on your door and say they're selling books for the University of Nebraska Omaha. But UNO spokespeople say they do NOT have students selling books door-to-door.
Worse, warn Omaha police in an alert on their website: "Complaints (about the sellers) have ranged from assertive behavior to requests for cash, checks and keys to a car."
Police say if a door-to-door salesperson seems supicious, call 911 so officers can further investigate. Within city limits, peddlers must have a photo ID and a peddler's permit.
