Omaha Teen Hit by Vehicle
Omaha, NE - A teenager is in serious condition after being hit by a vehicle Thursday evening.
Police say around 5:30 Thursday evening the teen was trying to cross the street near 24th and Cumming.
Witnesses told police the cars heading East and West had a green light, and the teen tried to cross heading North against traffic.
"I saw him get hit and his clothes went flying," said a witness. "Next thing I know he's underneath the car that's in the middle of 24th street right now."
Police say the teen was thrown into the intersection landing underneath a vehicle which was stopped at the time.
Witnesses tell Action 3 News they heard the screams and went running to help.
"I held his hand and asked him if he was alright," said Julien Fitzgeralb. "He was breathing but he wasn't conscious at the time."
The teen was transported the Creighton University Medical Center in Serious Condition.
Police say he suffered multiple broken bones and internal injuries, but is in stable condition.
