UPDATE: Driver Booked on Unrelated Charge
Several people were sent to the hospital.
(OMAHA) - A mother was charged by Omaha Police after causing a crash that injured six people, including herself. Police say the charges against Lynette Diaz are unrelated to the crash.
Police say Diaz ran a red light on Park Avenue this afternoon. A driver hit her at the Harney street exit, causing the Chevy Avalanche Diaz was driving to flip on its top. Police say seven people were inside the SUV and none of them was wearing a seat belt, including her two children. Police said a passenger was holding a five-month-old girl, who suffered a minor brain hemorrhage. Diaz suffered broken ribs.
Police say the crash is still under investigation, and haven't said if anyone will be cited or face charges relating to the crash.
