Local Companies Feeling Economic Heat
Drought Having Major Impact on Businesses
Omaha, NE - The extreme heat is having a huge impact on companies that bank on the weather for their business.
The hot Summer is especially difficult for lawn care companies metro wide. The drought is now hitting their customer base harder than ever compared to previous years.
"We had a good Spring, but we're definitely having a rough Summer," said Forest Green Lawn and Landscaping Owner Chris Kozol.
No rain means business and revenue are down. The number of homes they're serving is also down by dozens compared to other years.
"We're definitely down thousands of dollars," said Kozol.
The severe heat on the other hand is good for businesses like A1 United Heating and Air, but it comes at the expense of more hours for the 56 workers on staff and a waiting list of about two to three days.
"As people call in it depends on a needs basis," said A1 president Ray Barr. "The people who are sick and elderly are the ones we're trying to take care of first."
