Omaha, NE - Crime scene investigators worked late into the evening gathering bags of evidence in a triple shooting from early Monday morning. Someone killed 44-year-old Miguel Avalos and his 16-year-old son Jose, and critically injured Avalos' 18-year-old son Miguel Junior.

"It shocks me that it happened to them, they're the last people that I would expect but it's not the best neighborhood," Jorge Garcia said.

Jorge Garcia showed up to 9th and Bancroft in tears after learning his best friends and their father were shot. Garcia went to school with the brothers and knew them well. He says he can't understand who would do this. "I don't know who wouldn't like Miguel, he was never that guy who made enemies, he would avoid it if possible and the same with Jose."

Neighbors say gunfire isn't uncommon in the area but didn't think they'd see a crime scene like this on their block. "It never got bad like this till today you hear gunshots but nobody ever got killed ," a neighbor said.

Garcia often stayed with the Avalos family. He says this isn't the first time they've been victims of crime. "I've seen his dad's car get jacked into, we tried stopping that you know."

Tonight neighbors want the violence to stop and whoever's responsible for this shooting off the streets.
