61 Minors Cited At House Party
Renters Also Ticketed
Omaha, NE - Empty bottles of alcohol littered 60th and Pacific Saturday morning; a clear indicator of a party turned wild.
"That's not good for the neighborhood," said neighbor Sam Tillman.
To neighbors like Tillman just getting home late Friday night, what should have been a quiet street was more like a zoo.
"When we got home it looked like there was a bunch of young, drunk kids scattering," said Tillman. "Somebody broke a bunch of beer bottles up the street."
By night's end, 61 minors were ticketed for consuming liquor. The three underage renters of the house were also cited for giving alcohol to minors, drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Neighbors say similar disturbances have happened before.
"It used to happen a lot. One house over here used to be rented to college kids a lot, so we used to deal with it quite a bit."
I knocked on the door to get the renters side of the story, but nobody answered. Omaha police tell us Friday night's bust was the largest of its kind this year, even beating out a similar incident back in February when 43 minors were cited at a house party near 111th and Jones.
"That's pretty alarming."
Under state law, the minors could face a fine among other penalties.
