U.S. Figure Skating Exec Visits Centurylink Center
Omaha Becoming Prime Sports Location
Omaha, NE - The executive director for U.S. Figure Skating says he likes Omaha as a sports town and is looking forward to January when the championships kick off.
"We're learning from the swim trials and how it can relate to our event," said David Raith.
Before there are skaters, however, there will be golfers in Omaha. After a decade here, golfers already know what to expect.
"Omaha loves to host," said Cox Classic Tournament Director Chad Mardesen. "It's just something engrained in our DNA."
Sports in Omaha is an experience unlike any other for the swim trial's Harold Cliff. He tells KMTV Action 3 News fans just can't get enough of the drama and storylines that come with the events.
"You can watch it on TV, but when you watch it live there's nothing like it," said Cliff.
Looking ahead, the 2013 U.S. Senior Open will also be in Omaha. Right now, all of their volunteer spots are filled. For tournament officials, it's a clear indicator Omaha is a sports town.
