The Old Market...

Always packed with people, a place many feel comfortable in.

"It's kind of nostalgic, I mean I never felt unsafe. It's just always been a good place to come and hang out."

Lately though...

"There unfortunately was an incident about a week ago that I think has caused some people some concern."

A fatal shooting at 11th and Harney, questioned how safe areas of the Old Market really are.

Omaha police, now stepping up and bulking up enforcement on the streets.

"A camera designed to gather evidence if something occurs you know literally behind their back, which is possible, or when they're not able to keep an eye on it."

Along with more police officers, more security cameras being spread through the Old Market, and targeting the North end.

"The hope is that it will discourage people that are thinking about doing something illegal, from trying it, because they're not going to get away with it."

There are already several cameras up and running, but taping peole that don't even know it? Something we though people in Omaha should know.

"What do you think about being taped, and not knowing it? Uhm, it wouldn't bother me, cause it's for a good cause."

"I think that's a good idea, it's just I don't know, crime is getting worse so I would feel safer if there was more cameras and more police."

An extra set of eyes, helping out officers who can't be everywhere, something Old Market goers are welcoming, to keep criminals off of their favorite block of town.
