Papillion, NE - A tranquil early morning stroll in the park Tuesday turned surreal for Susan Bond.

"It's very scary," Bond said simply.

Just after 8 A.M., while walking her dog, Bond noticed something floating face down in the pond at Schwer Park.

"It looked like a blown up torso."

Bond went home and told her husband.  In the meantime, a Papillion city worker called police after he made the same gruesome discovery in the water.  Papillion police, with help from the Douglas County Sheriff's Crime Lab, went to work.

"We retrieved a body that appeared to be that of a white male, age unknown," said Papillion Police Chief Leonard Houloose.

Houloose tells KMTV Action 3 News identifying the remains will take time.  He believes the body had been in the water for a day or less, but it's badly decomposed.

Meanwhile, Bond struggles with the memory from this morning.

"When I saw the police coming I was physically ill because I had stared at it for a long time.  It just looked very suspicious," said Bond.

Coroners will now perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
