Update: Florida State Player Pleads Guilty In Court
Omaha, NE - A Florida State player in the College World Series pleaded guilty to damaging property after he was arrested for shoplifting at Scheels Monday.
John Holland and his brother Steven were arrested at 4:20 p.m. after they reportedly changed a pricetag on a pair of shorts to a higher-priced jersey--then tried to buy the shirt for the lower price. The difference: $12.
A loss prevention worker watched the two switching the pricetags and called police. The Holland brothers were booked into jail because they have no local ties.
Tuesday morning they appeared in county court and were fined $50 each.
City Prosecutor Marty Conboy said his office agreed to the charge of damaging property because the pricetag had been tampered with.
He called the incident "unprecedented" for an athlete during an event like the College World Series.
