Stony Brook Looks to Win Over Fans in Omaha
Seawolves Embrace Underdog Role
Omaha, NE - The Stony Brook Seawolves arrived in Omaha on Wednesday and immediately embraced the underdog role in this year's College World Series.
They received a hero's welcome at Embassy Suites when they arrived. 3rd baseman Willie Carmona said " we've turned from nobodies into celebrities. It's unbelievable. " The players and coaches from the school from Long Island, New York hope Omaha fans cheer on the perceived long shot. Coach Matt Senk noted " we would love to become hometown darlings if that in fact becomes the case playing in front of so many people. "
Anybody who takes the Seawolves lightly might be in for a surprise. This is the team that knocked out powerhouse LSU in the Super Regionals. Their first game is Friday against UCLA.
