Teacher Who Set $20 Million Fire Heads To Prison
Set Boss' Desk On Fire
Lincoln, NE - A judge sentenced the former teacher who set a $20 million fire at the school district's administration building to eight to 12 years in prison.
The May 2011 fire destroyed the building at 59th and O Streets and displaced about 250 employees. Court papers say Sharon Brewster used a lighter on a box of files. She reportedly admitted to investigators that she'd gone to a boss' cubicle and used the lighter. She said the box was on her boss' desk.
The 45-year-old faced up to 20 years in prison.
The district's new administration building was dedicated yesterday.
